About this listen
A schema is a mental model that structures itself to process cognition and perception. Constructing a schema involves following a self-built process to allow a person to view the world based on knowledge, concepts, interpretations, imagination, and problem-solving skills developed through experience. This audiobook will describe the types of schemas, how to modify them, how schema can hurt or help us, the impact of learning and memories, and schema therapy for the following traits: Abandonment, mistrust, emotional deprivation, social isolation, dependence, vulnerability to harm, defectiveness, failure, subjugation, unrelenting standards, and entitlement. The information will unfold schema therapy and explain how it helps unravel learned information, stereotypes, and harmful ideologies that have led you to the point you are. New information, which fits within a persons’ schema, may also impact how individuals see the world.
When data that fits into an existing schema crosses the individual’s path, they are more likely to pay attention to it. There are times when people will distort the material to fit comfortably into the existing schema, which also impacts how the person remembers events. Section seven will delve into the vulnerability of harm schema and give individuals tools with schema therapy that can help moderate this harmful schema. This schema can be traced back to early childhood and may have developed because the individual experienced an extreme loss. These losses could include a friend, parent, or another family member. When the person went through this loss, they felt unsafe. Now, the schema leads them to believe that there is a tragic ending around every corner.

Significantly informative for short duration
I liked the fact of the duration being shorter, but not too short, still informative enough to feel and seem like an entire book has been heard, but short enough that I did not have to spend several instances to sit and complete the entire title, was able to do so within 2 or 3 sittings.
The voice used was calming and easily heard, and understood at a great pace.
Very good book

Hmm... This book is a bit of a mixed bag
Firstly, the narration sounds like a really bad automated voice - completely lacking in expression and the nuances of human vocal patterns.
Although this book gives a good overview of Schema Therapy, it does not cover all of the various Schema that have been identified in Schema Therapy.

Not a self-help book, not a therapy manual.
I'm not sure where this book fits.
It's not detailed enough to be a self-help book as it continuously tells you to get a therapist instead of appropriately explaining techniques.
Conversely, it's not detailed enough to be a therapy manual as it neither explains schemas in enough detail nor explains the techniques. It simply assumes the therapist will have knowledge of these things.
The 'conclusion' is a slightly different version of the 1st chapter - with major parts a direct copy. It then introduces schema modes without any kind of reference as to why.
The level of English in the book is quite poor. I would not recommend this book to anyone with English as a second language. Many of the word misses/replacements are words that are close to the desired word, but the word that is used is entirely different. Some key parts and sentences make no discernible sense. I believe the book was not proofread adequately.
The only positive reflections I can think of is that if someone were already in therapy, this book might provide enough information to supplement therapy and provide a client with suggestions of where therapy should focus.
I'm a psychologist. I would not recommend this book to my clients or peers.

Very broad overview without any useful info
I have listened to parts and got bored quickly without actually gaining any real insight. Very generalised without enough detail yet difficult to follow.

Only useful as a review to the original book by Dr Young
Not useful as a standalone book. Only makes sense as a review summary to the book by Dr Young. Narrator is very monotonous and distracting.
