About this listen
Caroline Abbott loves her job - helping engaged couples pick out the perfect save-the-date cards and invitations for their dream wedding. Working at Noteworthy means she has to deal with the occasional bridezilla, but Caroline’s always up for the challenge.
Until one particular bridezilla walks into the stationery store whose fiancé happens to be the boy Caroline shared her first kiss with. Alexander Wilder is all grown up now, helping run his family’s successful luxury hotel chain, and is somehow even better looking than she remembers.
When Caroline just happens to catch Alex’s fiancée half naked with another man, well, of course she has to tell Alex. Of course, he breaks off his engagement. And of course, the ex-bridezilla has gone completely bonkers.
At least Caroline has her friends to save her from crazy ex-fiancées. But she also has the sudden interest of...Alex? Caroline knows they share a connection, but is he on the rebound? Or after seeing her all these years later, does he really want something more?

Simple story but enjoyable
It was a refreshing change where the characters were up front and honest with each other rather than so many where there are numerous misunderstandings and assumptions of what’s happening that keeps them apart until the end of the book. It was an enjoyable, easy listen.

Childhood friends reunite
Save the Date by Monica Murphy is the first standalone novel in the Dating Series.
Caroline and Alex’s story is a fake dating and childhood friends reunion romance.
These two knew each other as childhood friends and their first kiss. But Alex and his family moved away and they never saw each other again. That is until they meet again when Alex is planning he’s wedding…until that’s no longer happening. But a big business deal is in the works for Alex and he needs an instant fiancée.

It was ok
The story was ok. Performances were enjoyable. Overall it just felt flat for me but I can’t it my finger on it…. Maybe lack of chemistry and spice?

Save your time
There isn't anything special about this book.
The storyline is average, the narration is average, the interest level is average. No major plot twists or ghastly surprises. Even the obligatory "roadblock" to happiness which is naturally overcome isn't earth shattering.

Predictable and raunchy
This is as predictable as rom cons get but the horrible bit while they’re estranged is short. One of the chapters is very raunchy.

unfortunately a big let down
The only way i can think to describe this is third rate.
It was like a cheap knock off of a good romance book. The theory behind the story was there but the execution was lacking immensely.
The interactions and thought processes weren’t realistic or in touch with reality. It was impossible to really feel the story and immerse into the characters and go along with the journey as the emotional journey was so rushed and again so unrealistic that it was just too far fetched to really believe what was being said. That made connecting to the book almost impossible and enlisted more eye rolls than anything. It’s a shame because the theory behind the plot could have been a really great book if more care and passion was put into making it something to be proud of instead of a book to just push out for an income or something. That’s total opinion but if the writer just took some more time and care into feeling out a situation instead of going through the motions i think this book could be made into a really captivating book.
