About this listen

Grace is a thief: a good one. She was taught by experts, and she's been practicing since she was a kid. She specializes in small, high-value items—stamps, watches—and she knows her Jaeger-LeCoultres from her Patek Philippes. But it's a solitary life, always watchful, always moving. It's not the life she wants.

Lying low after a run-in with an old associate, Grace walks into Erin Mandel's rural antiques shop and sees a chance for something different. A normal job. A place to call home.

But someone is looking for Erin. And someone's looking for Grace, too.

And they are both, in their own ways, very dangerous men.

A good yarn.

An intriguing mystery - although at some times so intriguing, I got lost! I think it took me to the end of the book to work out the characters. But the concept and storyline were good.
the narrator had a great voice and spoke very clearly. I think a few South Australians would be most annoyed every time he mispronounced Nuriootpa, Gomeracha and Portrush (

Really enjoyed this one.

Listened to a few from Disher and this is my fav so far. Great characters and rolling story that kept on evolving throughout.

Classic Garry Disher

Believable characters- likable despite their flaws. As usual with Disher a strong sense of place - the Adelaide Hills and i felt I knew the country antique shop. Plenty of twists right to the end. Gripping!

The ending

The start was very patchy, I couldn't grasp whi everyone was. but once I got a handle on them all, I loved the story. Kind of devastated about the ending, not how I wanted it to end.

Was not the best

It seem Disher has not been great recently, from the latest Hirsch novel I defiantly think the quality of writing has gone down

Enjoyable but takes a bit of following

I dont know why this story hasn't gotten better reviews because it's actually quite good. It does take a bit of concentration for the first half to work out all the characters and their different plot lines but it does all come together at the end. Obviously there is a sequel planned and I will look forward to it.
Narrator was just right!!

Unfortunately not as good as usual

I really like Gary Disher’s books, usually. Unfortunately, in this book, the characters and story felt formulaic. And the narration was not good- inappropriate breathless excitement at times and mispronunciation of some Sputh Australian town names were distracting.

Hoping this is Book 1 of Many!

My first thought when it ended was "There HAS to be a sequel..or three..."

Great characters that I'd really like to spend more time with on their next "adventures"

Not great

I really like the Wyatt and hirschausen books but this didn't do it for me. Just found it dragged on and didn't care about any of the characters
