Publisher's Summary

Another classic Poirot story brought to life by Hugh Fraser.

Beautiful young Elinor Carlisle stood serenely in the dock, accused of the murder of Mary Gerrard, her rival in love. The evidence was damning: only Elinor had the motive, the opportunity and the means to administer the fatal poison.

Yet, inside the hostile courtroom, only one man still presumed Elinor was innocent until proven guilty: Hercule Poirot was all that stood between Elinor and the gallows…

David Suchet is an audio magician

You already know that no-one is Poirot like Suchet. But it’s so delightful listening to his effortless characterisation of every part - right up to the point where you entirely forget that he’s doing anything at all and just get swept up in the story.

Really good work

I loved the story, I had trouble hearing the narrator. Great performance though. I recommend

Enjoyed the story.

Good performance throughout, but many mumbled lines were almost incomprehensible without having to raise the volume considerably.

Very enjoyable.

Amazing range of voices by David Suchet. I forgot that only one person was speaking. Such a great storyteller. One of my favourite Agatha Christie stories…

Enjoyable but implausible

A classic Christie, though the plot is a little weak. I enjoyed the characters and papa Poirot.
A word of advice to David Suchet; SPEAK UP!! I understand that murmuring may convey some dramatic flourish. But it also makes the book impossible to hear properly.

Fabulous story - So So Delivery.

Another great read from AC however delivering wasn't the best. It was difficult at times to hear. The court scenes with the QC's were so loud that I had to turn the volume down but then to hear the reply, you had to turn it back up again. Frustrating. Hugh Fraser does a more modulated reading I find. Either way, it's still an interesting story with twists and turns.
