About this listen
The compelling second instalment of the high-octane series featuring British CIA agent Ryan Drake.
Afghanistan, 2008. A Black Hawk helicopter carrying a senior CIA operative is shot down by a surface to air missile, its lone passenger taken hostage by a fanatical new insurgent group. Knowing this man holds information vital to the ongoing conflict, the CIA bring in Ryan Drake and his elite Shepherd team to find and rescue their lost operative. But nothing is what it seems, and within hours of arriving in the war-torn country, Drake and his team find themselves caught in a deadly conflict between a brutal terrorist warlord and the ruthless leader of a private military company. And lurking in the shadows is a woman from Drake's past determined to settle old scores....

"Written at breakneck pace, complete with extensive firefights and brutal weaponry, this is a heart-stopper for anyone who likes plenty of action and explosions." (Daily Mail)

engrossing
Loved it. a step up from the first installment.
A lot of tropes and some predictable dialogue, but the story was solid and compelling. Jordan paints a vivid picture with likeable, believable characters, some far fetched action sequences and a knack for building tension.
Very easy and enjoyable read.

Captivating
After enjoying the first in the Ryan Drake series, I was hopeful of a second story just as well put together and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. I found myself taking every opportunity possible (and some where I should’ve been doing other things) to listen through this one as I had to know how it played out!
Thinking I should get through some errands before I start the third!

Great, but....
Solid story and characters, but for God's sake of you're going to use firearms in your story at least get the terminology and calibres right. It's a minor gripe, but seriously... A P90 submachinegun does not use 9mm ammunition, and stop calling an AK-47 an "AK-47 assault rifle". Other than that everything else is on point.

not a bad follow up to book 1
A good story. Also very good narration. Recommended if you enjoyed book 1. some of the fine details have been allowed to be wrong, but it never really ruins the story for me.

Go Away Now Drake
Experienced intelligence operative neglects safety and common sense to meet an unknown contact in a war zone, then risks the lives of his colleagues to help a woman who abandoned and left him for dead. Because even strong, resourceful military men become reckless simps at the sight of a pretty face I guess. #u*% $ff book.
