Publisher's Summary

An epic and heart-rending jungle adventure from the bestselling author of Kaspar and Born to Run.

For Will and his mother, going to Indonesia isn't just a holiday. It's an escape, a new start, a chance to put things behind them – things like the death of Will's father.

And to begin with, it seems to be just what they both needed. But then Oona, the elephant Will is riding on the beach, begins acting strangely, shying away from the sea. And that's when the tsunami comes crashing in, and Oona begins to run. Except that when the tsunami is gone, Oona just keeps on running.

With nothing on his back but a shirt and nothing to sustain him but a bottle of water, Will must learn to survive deep in the jungle. Luckily, though, he's not completely alone…

He's got Oona.

A great book

My only regret is that it ended too soon and I mean that literally. It seemed the ending felt a bit rushed and could have been a little longer.

The Book You Can't Put Down!

What made the experience of listening to Running Wild the most enjoyable?

As Michael Morpurgo is so descriptive with his writing and narration, you become incredibly involved in the story. Even after the book is finished, you feel empowered to go protect all of the rainforests! A brilliant read!

Have you listened to any of Michael Morpurgo’s other performances? How does this one compare?

This is my favourite book to date, I am just about to start my fourth Michael Morpurgo novel.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book will have you experience all the emotions, but definitely, will leave you smiling!

Just stunning

This book had our whole family hanging on each word… from our 5,10 &12 yr old sons to both of us parents. It was incredibly moving, heart wrenching, hopeful, intricate and spectacularly descriptive. Lovely to hear the author read his own book and hear his motivations at the conclusion. Couldn’t recommend enough!
