About this listen

Rumpelstiltskin, originating from Germany, is also known as Rumpelstilzchen. The tale was collected by the Brothers Grimm in the 1812 collection, Children and Household Tales. Rumpelstiltzchen means "little wooden stilt", of the sort that is used to support someone struggling to walk. There are similar characters in European folklore with different names, such as Terrytop, Tom Iit Top, or Whuppity Stoorie. In this more wicked version of the tale, the miller’s daughter is at risk of dying if she cannot spin the straw into gold.

The Sisters Siren is a collaboration between Melanie Adkins and Claire Rooney. Mel is an Education Psychologist and accomplished children's author. Claire is a professional narrator and voiceover actor. They both decided that the current saccharine coated stories of yore needed to be told in all of the dark, witty, romantic, and funny way.
