About this listen
In a world of perpetual night, vampires rule and humans have no chance of escape.
On the surface, my life must appear one of lavish design. As a courtesan for the vampire royals, extravagant gowns are tailor-made to hug my curves, ensuring I look my best as an ornament decorating a luxurious palace.
What is the cost of all this splendor? My blood, my body . . . and my soul.
After being arrested for war crimes, I volunteered to become a consort to the three kings to allow my family time to escape. But when the malicious leader of the human rebellion demands I betray my new lovers, even I'm surprised to discover my loyalties have shifted.
My body now craves the touch of my vampiric kings, awakening a burning passion within me to protect them from an uprising that could bring them to their knees. Can I find a way to protect all those I love, or will I pay with my life for daring to care for both sides?
Contains mature themes.

Great Listen
I was a little worried that this book would be really repetitive but I was pleasantly surprised to listen to this book. The narration was awesome and the story overall kept me on my toes, wondering what would happen next. This book does end on a cliffhanger, so if you are someone who can't deal with that type of ending, make sure you have access to the next book ready. I won't be able to do this because currently, the audiobook version of book 2 isn't available but I wish I could listen to the next one so that I can get some questions answered. If you read the blurb and were a little unsure, read or listen to a sample and see if it captures your curiosity. I would definitely recommend this if you think you will like it. Enjoy!

So good & so bummed only book 1/3 available
Loved this book and now I’m so crushed that I didn’t check if all books were available before I started ☹️😔
That aside, I think this may be the first book I’ve read of this genre that has an intelligent female lead. I tend to come across the weak and vulnerable FMC’s who need the mates’ protection, or get stuck fighting for themselves from within their suffocating protection; or the physically and mentally strong FMC who either finds herself an equal amongst her mates, or the FMC’s whose strength is revealed to be a self defence mechanism that dissipates into the protection offered by the males.
It was a welcome change to encounter a FMC who is physically and ‘magically’ vulnerable but uses her political savvy and self assured sexuality to navigate dangerous/difficult situations and survive. In this first book magic plays a small role, the focus is on the FMC, the males and the political and inter-personal dynamics. This was also a welcome change that piqued and captured my interest.
I enjoyed the perspective of the politically and sexually educated courtesan, the idea of the strategic mind and skilful manipulation of people was deliciously novel for me.
The males are great. Character nuance & development, world building and situation articulation are artfully and subtly achieved. The story has layers and intrigue. The narrators/readers did a good job. I’d look up other books they’ve read because I didn’t once feel any frustration or consider stopping listening (which happens often enough).
There are no gratuitous sex scenes - I found them really well written and naturally integrated into the overall story. Not too much, not too little, appropriate to the people and context …of course this is an area where we all have personal tastes so 🤷🏼♀️ this is all in my humble personal opinion.
If you’re thinking about reading then my advice would be to give this a go- if you’re up for the possibility of wanting more and not being able to have it immediately.
