Publisher's Summary

The world of Faerie never disappeared: it merely went into hiding, continuing to exist parallel to our own. Secrecy is the key to Faerie’s survival—but no secret can be kept forever, and when the fae and mortal worlds collide, changelings are born. Half-human, half-fae, outsiders from birth, these second-class children of Faerie spend their lives fighting for the respect of their immortal relations. Or, in the case of October “Toby” Daye, rejecting it completely.

After getting burned by both sides of her heritage, Toby has denied the fae world, retreating into a “normal” life. Unfortunately for her, Faerie has other ideas. The murder of Countess Evening Winterrose, one of the secret regents of the San Francisco Bay Area, pulls Toby back into the fae world. Unable to resist Evening’s dying curse, which binds her to investigate, Toby is forced to resume her old position as knight errant to the Duke of Shadowed Hills and begin renewing old alliances that may prove her only hope of solving the mystery...before the curse catches up with her.

Critic Reviews

"Well researched, sharply told, highly atmospheric and as brutal as any pulp detective tale, this promising start to a new urban fantasy series is sure to appeal to fans of Jim Butcher or Kim Harrison." ( Publishers Weekly)

Slow burner

Took quite a few chapters to get into this story. To much explaining stuff that didn't impact on the overall story.

On the end I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next one.

Good acting but the accents!

I have heard that this series is much better from book three on, but I enjoyed it, even though it was a bit confusing. The reader is obviously a good actor but the accents were painful. Spanish accents sounded more like Chinese. If that bothers you, don’t pick this one.

Brand new Daye

If you could sum up Rosemary and Rue in three words, what would they be?

Kind,Funny, Fayetastic.

What other book might you compare Rosemary and Rue to, and why?

Wicked Lovely ,is very much like this given the likeability and venerability of the lead female protagonists ,both are very real both have to rise above and both are fighting the world of Faye which inset always nice.

Which character – as performed by Mary Robinette Kowal – was your favourite?

October , although she dose a fantastic job with them all.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book filled me with a scene of love as stupid as it sounds I felt as if I knew each and every one of the books inhabitants like they had become new friends .

Any additional comments?

This was the first book I ever brought on Audible and I haven't looked back all of the series is a joy to the ears ,if like me you thought the world of Faye was skinny naked chicks with wings granting you wishes nothing could be further from the truth October the heroin of the piece is a fantastic character, I say change your mind about the world of Faye ,it would be a shame to miss out on such a great collection of books.
