About this listen

Fourteen-year-old Ronan Boyle is the youngest and lowliest recruit to the secret Garda, an Irish police force that handles the misdeeds of numerous magical creatures. Ronan's parents are in jail, but Ronan is convinced they were framed by the wee people. So, despite his small size, poor eyesight, and social awkwardness, he's determined to learn all he can in the Garda in order to prove his parents' innocence.

To show he's got what it takes, he'll have to confront a fiery leprechaun, a sinister harpy, and a whole world of monsters hidden in plain sight next to real-life Ireland.

Fast-paced, action-packed, and completely hilarious, this is the start to an exciting new middle-grade series by actor and writer Thomas Lennon.

Here be monsters

Tom Lennon, you're a funny man. How you got away with making jokes about alcohol in a kids book is a kind of magick all its own.
The metaphors are high-grade hilarity and descriptions are low-brow lol-fests. I'm a middle-age woman, I shouldn't be here at all. I should be crocheting myself some children, but instead I want to be off in Ireland following a damn fool kid as he encounters the most disgusting, intriguing, offensive, darling little turd fae one writer's mind can conjure. Tom's narration and voices are sheer delight. I laugh every time I remember the way he spits the slur, "Beefies!" Can't wait to read the others or have a baby switched out for a log.
