About this listen
"Rachel Reid crafted a story of true heart, beauty, heat, and glorious, hard-won redemption! I loved both heroes and their journey to love was a gorgeous one to watch!" (Lauren Blakely, number one New York Times best-selling author of Scoring With Him)
The highly anticipated fifth novel in Rachel Reid’s Game Changers series sees a grumpy professional hockey player meet his match in an out-and-proud social media manager....
The hits just keep coming for Troy Barrett. Traded to the worst team in the league would be bad enough, but coming on the heels of a messy breakup and a recent scandal…Troy just wants to play hockey and be left alone. He doesn’t want to be in the news anymore, and he definitely doesn’t want to “work on his online presence” with the team’s peppy social media manager.
Harris Drover can tell standoffish Troy isn’t happy about the trade - anyone could tell, frankly, as he doesn’t exactly hide it well - but Harris doesn’t give up on people easily. Even when he’s developing a crush he’s sure is one-sided. And when he sees Troy’s smile finally crack through his grumpy exterior, well…that’s a man Harris couldn’t turn his back on if he wanted to.
Suddenly, Troy’s move to the new team feels like an opportunity - for Troy to embrace his true self, and for both men to surrender to their growing attraction. But indulging in each other behind closed doors is one thing, and for Troy, being in a public relationship with Harris will mean facing off with his fears, once and for all.

thoroughly enjoyed listening to this series
In Role Model, we get to meet the real Troy - In the previous books in the series the reader/listener gets glimpses of a not always likeable person - he had hidden himself behind a carefully cultivated facade. In Role Model, he is presented with an opportunity to embrace change and show the world who he really is.
Enter Harris - a generally happy and positive social media manager who turns out to be exactly what Troy needs. His happiness and positive personality is the opposite of Troy's usual state of grumpiness, but they are just so perfect for each other.
Loved seeing some of my other fav characters pop up more often throughout the storyline, and the narrator Cooper North is just so very easy to listen to & enjoy

Excellent, Rachel Reid find the net every time!
This is a really strong contender for best book in this excellent series! Troy Barrett has a well-deserved poor reputation for demeaning his teammates and behaving badly. He gets a rude wake-up call when his best friend and Montreal teammate, Dallas, is accused of multiple rapes. Publicly confronting Dallas leads to Troy being traded to Ottawa in disgrace. While Troy resents being traded for doing the right thing, the more supportive Ottawa team and Harris, the out-and-proud social media manager, might just help him become a better person, maybe even a role model for others. I absolutely loved this grumpy / sunshine redemption romance! Exploring the protective layers that Troy had built up to hide is sexuality and watching him slowly learn to accept himself and learn to love Harris was an amazing journey. Having Ilya Rozanov as his captain was a lovely bonus! Rachel Reid really knocks this out of the park or should I say she finds the net every time! Cooper North is such a great audio narrator, his performance here is perfect!
