Heart-warming, but missed opportunity.

A sweet, emotional book, perfect for a festive read, though it falls short on the suspense promised in the blurb. While Camille’s bond with Steve’s kids, especially shy Myka, is heartwarming and her friendship with all four kids feels authentic. The stalker subplot and fires lack the tension needed for a satisfying resolution. The story shines in its tender, family-focused scenes, but Camille’s perfect fit into Steve’s life seems to be too Hallmark perfect and diminishes the memory of his late wife. Despite some frustrations with the pacing and plot, it’s still a cozy Christmas romance.
