About this listen

Alone. Surrounded by monsters. Armed only with his fists... Time to fight.

Jack Rust was a disillusioned biologist with a PhD—almost. When an extraterrestrial AI calling itself the System invaded Earth and thrust it into a world of aliens, magic, and violence, Jack hoped to at least get some magic himself.

Nope.

Even worse, the System spawned a forest dungeon around him and a goblin in his face....

Armed with nothing but his fists, Jack must grow strong enough to survive hordes of monsters. He needs to return to civilization and find out what the heck is going on. He might even get magic—or not. Surprising himself, Jack discovers that violence is fun.

In this battle-ridden new world, Jack finds the life he always dreamed about. He won’t just survive. He will thrive.

Don't miss the start of this action-packed new LitRPG Apocalypse series from Valerios. Join Jack the brawler as he pummels everything that gets in his way with his fists on his road to mastery and power. It's perfect for fans of Primal Hunter, Defiance of the Fall, and lovers of all things progression fantasy and LitRPG.

Not bad but the audio is horrible

Story was ok but it sounds like they recorded with a cup and string. It’s so tinny sounding with lots of harsh ‘S’ sounds.

Engaging and exactly what you want from a litrpg

At first I was like oh it’s kinda goofy and not taking itself seriously enough but then I was like oh ok it’s actually heartfelt and sweet and Jack is actually very likeable (and brock grew on me a lot) definitely recommend, I like that it’s 30h and fast paced enough to keep my attention!!! Looking forward to the next instalment :)) (also I love the lil sci fi-y elements)

Pretty Average Overall

Started off pretty well but as soon as the gym monkeys and brorillas showed up it just went downhill. System and stat design is poor, dao of spanking is worse. Dude won’t kill monkeys because they’re intelligent then goes on to murder people with zero remorse. Narrator wasn’t bad but sounds like his microphone is from the 90s. Only got halfway through so maybe it gets better but I doubt it.

Good shiz

A very fun time. Silly enough to have a good chuckle without losing itself to memes, action packed and dramatic enough to be a satisfying start to an epic adventure. One of those long stories where you don’t notice how long it is. The setting changes significantly as Jack grows, but every part of his story fully owns the moment it happens in and the parts that follow continue to build on what came before. Reads kind of like audio anime, in the best way.

a great start to a series with potential

the narrator took some getting used to, but overall a good system/ cultivator story.

It’s… not good

It’s not the worst book on audible. No real plot and rough audio quality don’t help though.
