Publisher's Summary
Ex-Rider Keiko "Kei" Springs was living with her adopted daughter Becky away from her previous life of crime.
Unfortunately, the past is not easy to escape and her sadistic former sensei, Snake, gives her an ultimatum: perform eight tasks for him or die. The final mission before her freedom is nearly impossible, though. Snake wants her to take down a luxury resort where the super-rich are implanted with their heart's desires, only to be brainwashed into serial killers for blackmail potential.
Teaming up with the eccentric techjack Paradise, her on-again off-again lover Case, and a Judicial Magistrate named Parvati Rao—Kei thinks she can pull it off.
Unfortunately, that's before she discovers the luxury resort is owned and operated by a nearly omnipotent AI that has it out for her.

A sequel somehow even better than the first!
First of all, while not strictly necessary, I'd highly recommend reading book one before this one. Most things are explained, but there's a lot of nuance missed, I think.
Having said that, this one managed to be bigger, better and had even more intrigue. Which is impressive considering how well the first book did thise things.
In this book, an old enemy of Kei's (no spoilers) comes back and makes her an offer she can't refuse. Do a number of jobs, or else.
That's all I should say of the plot to avoid spoilers. Suffice to say, there are so many twists and turns, I never could have predicted the ending.
It was a wild ride that I found genuinely exciting as I was drawn further and further into the plot.
The thing I liked most was the sense of realism such an outlandish plot and setting had. People grow, change and evolve, for better or worse. It adds a sense of continuity and consequence. It feels like a real world. And that's a rare thing.
And that ending was... something! I can't wait for people to read it so I can talk about it!
Also, the narration was once again absolutely perfect. It really helped to pull me into the story.
If you enjoyed book one at all, this will blow you away!
