Not as good as the 1st book

The plot and its elements could’ve been meatier but the mystery was overshadowed by Lady Anne’s contradictory thought process, double standards and lack of emotional intelligence. Anne has hangups. Instead of further developing her personality in a positive way, I found her pig-headed and somewhat mean to Darkefell. Anne can’t give him an inch but will give others a mile. I persisted with this story as book 3 sounds really interesting and I’m hopeful of an improvement to Anne’s behaviour and supposed ‘love’ towards Darkefell.
