About this listen

Volume One includes four full-length novels:

Ever Yours, Annabelle: As a girl, Annabelle Huxley chased Robert Conrad with reckless abandon, and he always rescued her when she pushed too far - until the accident that cost him everything.

The Madness of Viscount Atherbourne: Victoria Lacey's life is perfect-perfectly boring. Surely no one suspects her secret longing for head-spinning passion. Except a dark stranger, on a terrace, at a ball where she should not be kissing a man she has just met.

The Truth About Cads and Dukes: Painfully shy Jane Huxley is in a most precarious position, thanks to dissolute charmer Colin Lacey's deceitful wager. Now, his brother, the icy Duke of Blackmore, must make it right, even if it means marrying her himself.

Desperately Seeking a Scoundrel: Tortured and hunted by a brutal criminal, Lord Colin Lacey is rescued from death's door by the stubborn, fetching Sarah Battersby. In return, she asks one small favor: Pretend to be her fiance. With danger nipping his heels, he knows it is wrong to want her, wrong to agree to her terms. But when has Colin Lacey ever done the sensible thing?

Contains mature themes.

The stories were quite entertaining however I don’t like voices raised at full stops and lowered at commas as I noted in the first tale. This wasn’t consistent but the affectation was over the top of what I expected. I commend the reader for her efforts which I see continue on in other volumes - quite a marathon one. If only she would enunciate ALL of the ending consonants with proper regard.
To me the worst word was bark which appeared in all 4 books instead of back! Of course that wasn’t a consonant mistake but a vowel one and way too affected for my taste. This reader needs to know that everyone in her audience needs to be able to understand all that is said. That’s the reality. Besides she is promoting the author’s work which like hers has taken a lot of time to come to fruition. For anyone there is nothing worse than putting yourself out there and being slammed for all of your efforts therefore I hope that the reader takes note of my comments and adds a few tweaks to any future contracts that may come her way. I wish her well as she progresses along her journey thus enhancing the partnership between her and the author. This review is my interpretation alone but a day may come when I am tempted to write another-one that is more positive than this. Of course with tongue in cheek, if that were to happen I would have to say, “I will be back”.

Great stories but unfortunately the interpretations weren’t to my liking.

Four great entwined stories, well written and engaging. The narration was a bit over the top in places. There were far to many explicit sex scences that take over the story, it’s not Playboy, it’s a historical romance. The author could leave all those out and it would be excellent. I want a story not gagging sex scenes.

Very interesting and intruiging storyline’s

I enjoyed all the stories although at times our heroines seem to indulge in way too much overthinking, do seemingly very silly things that don't fit with their supposed intelligence, and bizarrely seem incapable of working out that their blokes adore them even if they haven't admitted it. I mean men that bonk their women senseless or sit at a bedside for 3 days so desperately worried about a wife aren't just doing it out of a sense of duty. This isn't plausible. The bloke's reasons for not being sure about their wives were usually more plausible.
The narration was good in terms of general accents and great with different voices but many of the vowel sounds, most usually the words with an 'a', varied from ok to poor, and drove even this Australian slightly nuts, especially in the first book. We have a different accent but use the same pronunciation of the vowels with a few exceptions. Too many words with short 'a' sounds as in apple were pronounced as 'ah', or even 'uh'. Back is not bark (with a non rhotic r). Fact is not farct, (that had me giggling), guffaw is not guffah, it's an 'or' (with a non rhotic 'r') sound. However these mispronunciations were less noticeable as I progressed to each book, so maybe there have already been corrections made.

Enjoyable stories.
