THE LANDMARK MEMOIR OF A GLOBAL MUSIC ICON
SHORTLISTED FOR THE IRISH BOOK AWARDS 2021

Sinéad O'Connor's voice and trademark shaved head made her famous by the age of twenty-one. Her recording of Prince's 'Nothing Compares 2 U' made her a global icon. She outraged millions when she tore up a photograph of Pope John Paul II on American television.

O'Connor was unapologetic and impossible to ignore, calling out hypocrisy wherever she saw it. She remained that way for over three decades.

In her acclaimed No 1 bestselling memoir Rememberings, O'Connor told her story - the heartache of growing up in a family falling apart; her early forays into the Dublin music scene; her adventures and misadventures in the world of sex, drugs and rock'n'roll; the fulfilment of being a mother; her ongoing spiritual quest - and through it all, her abiding passion for music.

Rememberings is intimate, replete with candid anecdotes and full of hard-won insights. It is a unique and remarkable chronicle by a unique and remarkable artist.

Loved it

I read it in paperback, but it's better in her own voice. Sinead writes with honesty and humour, providing an insight into her own challenging story and the music industry. She's incredible.

Loved it

I didn’t realise she was as funny as she is, I loved her but now I love her more. She is an amazing inspiration to women, and she taught me to be proud of being myself.

Her voice draws me in.

A contemporary by age and inspirational to the end. It is moving to hear Sinéad’s words in her own voice. I hope her request for an exhibition of her drawings happens and honours this extraordinary woman.

Honest, open, poignant

Such a precious insight into the beauty that is Sinéad O’Connor’s heart, life, soul and mind. She bore such pain from her upbringing, yet had such integrity in her actions. She shares so much of herself and her deep and hard earned wisdom in her life story. A rare insight into this precious, beautiful, feisty yet vulnerable human who suffered so greatly with the ongoing effects of childhood abuse and trauma, yet who shared such courage, depth and vulnerability with the world through her extraordinary music and the sacred beauty that is her voice. A brave soul who spoke truths that many silenced her for exposing, and yet who continues to do so in this story of her life. What a gift to hear her own story spoken in her own voice.

A beautiful and moving work

To hear her words in her voice was the perfect way to experience this book.

Beautifully written, at times I was moved to tears by her experiences.

The most honest and open of one’s extraordinary life

I didn’t know what to expect when I bought the book in Ireland two days after she passed away. I decided to get it on audio so I could listen to it in the car. Once I realised she was the narrator, I felt more close to her Than reading it from a book. I feel she was a very troubled soul with many good friends, but no one to really answer her questions. She lived for her music and her children. I love her even more now, then I did when I saw her rip upthe picture of the Pope
