About this listen
"I was never scared of dying until I loved you."
Decoy
I met a dude in a bar once. Tall and strong, he had moon-blue eyes and tawny hair, and he moved with the grace of a lion. It didn't pan out, but that's a theme in my life, and I've spent the last five years knowing that kind stranger dodged a bullet.
Divorced and miserable, I'm not exactly a catch. But the thing is, that man . . . he's not a stranger anymore. And he's as beautiful as I remember. Everything you want in a fake boyfriend, right?
Don't ask me to explain that one. But let me tell you this: I thought my biggest fear was losing my daughter. Then Folk came home, and I realized you can give your heart to more than one person.
We have a second chance. Goddamn, we deserve it. But this life, man. It's a journey. And there's no guarantees we'll both make it to the end.
Contains mature themes.

Favourite book and favourite couple in the series
Well, this book definitely caught me by surprise. I really thought there would be no other characters or story in this series that would top my favourite book, Saint’s Song, but Folk and Decoy and all their soft, touch-feely stuff had me from the get-go.
Before this book, we didn’t really know much about these two characters. But by the end, we got to know everything about their lives leading to joining the Rebel Kings MC (military life, relationships, family) and then experienced the here and now with them. The book had just the right balance of relationship building between Folk and Decoy, the breakdown of the co-parenting arrangements between Decoy and his ex-wife leading to some truly distressing events, and a fabulous MC good vs evil back story involving Folk and Alexei.
Once again, Dan Calley knocked it out of the ball park with his fabulous narration of all the Rebel Kings characters. He is always so consistent with maintainting the same accents and voices for each of the characters.
This series is fantastic and I would be more than happy for Garrett Leigh to continue to add new books with Dan Calley's narration.
