Et hovedtraek ved samfundsudviklingen i Danmark omkring år 1900 var, at industrialiseringen slog igennem. Forholdet mellem land og by forandredes, og København havde voksevaerk. Rejsen til Nørrebro udspiller sig i den tid. Bogen er en selvstaendig fortsaettelse til Sommeren på Carlsholm.
OM FORFATTEREN: Vibeke Bruun Arildsen voksede op i Randers, men bor nu på Frederiksberg. Hun er uddannet cand.mag. i dansk, og siden 2009 har hun undervist gymnasie- og skoleklasser på Karen Blixen Museet. Hendes interesse for det historiske blev for alvor vakt, da hun i 2004 blev ansat på Kronborg Slot. De tykke mure og mange trappetårne gav inspiration til en fortaelling fra 1500-tallet.
