Take it with a grain of salt.
This book had a lot of valuable advice in it and has helped me to understand appropriate social behaviour in a variety of situations.
With that said, the author mentions things that are not logically consistent. A specific example I can think of (not having taken notes while listening) is something along the lines of “Love everyone but whether you like them or not is an emotion”. Perhaps this might be better said as “Treat others with courtesy and compassion, regardless of whether those feelings are true”?
Another thing she mentions is that, to be interesting in conversation, listen to others you find interesting and emulate them.
This last part depends greatly on the people you are with. For example I love discussing neuroscience and how studying cases where the brain has been damaged or is malfunctioning has allowed us to understand so much more about the flaws in our hallucinations of reality, as projected by an organ. One could also argue that they find discussing sex interesting and so, to apply her advice, would need only discuss it with others to be interesting. This is certainly not the case!
I do by all means recommend this book, but please take it with a grain of salt and apply critical thinking to what you hear :-)
