About this listen

Corrupted.

This is the word that has defined Yu since her infancy. Her God Sign is corrupted and so she is a cultivator without cultivation. Frail and sickly, Yu is the only descendant of her mighty warrior lineage to live without strength, without purpose. She is a stain on the honor of her family, an embarrassment to her prestigious clan.

Hidden away, Yu comes to live with the constant scorn and ridicule of her peers. She is bullied, beaten, and bloodied. But she is never broken.

She dreams of one day proving herself worthy.

Defying her father’s wishes, Yu trains with her twin Jian swords, using her flawless memory to perfect their complex forms. Working in secret, she builds her martial skills to a level unheard of for her young age. But her skills mean little without cultivation.

Until she is given a chance—a chance to be reborn.

Excellent - Snared me immediately

Well written. Totally engaging. Desperate for the next installment. The lead character is engaging and has you cheering her on. Complex characters and fore-warnings abound. Excellent narration.

Rare smart, logical litrpg MC.

Narration is high quality and is a good fit for the character(s) and the story.

A strong story and plot, with fleshed out characters and buildup. MC's perfect-recall memory and intelligence is highly consistent and she doesn't arbitrarily break it for the plot. The other characters decisions also align with their personalities. Except, of course, the enemies.

The biggest flaw of these books is the comically overdone, cliché enemies. The moment they're introduced they're usually already arbitrarily, madly opposed to the MC. Her enemies will go into frothing, insane speeches outlining their diablocal plans in public. Her assassins would have to pause before putting a knife into her back, because they have to announce "DIE, TRASH, DIE!!!" first, of course.

very solid and enjoyable

I hadn't heard of this author and given the limited reviews is probably not well known but this is a strong entry in litrpg genre. The main character in this book is solid and the story arc is enjoyable. The audio book is well read and suits this story.

There are some weaknesses. its probably more 4 star but I added one given the limited reviews and this books minor issues don't distract from it definitely being worth being picked up. The world is well constructed, full of normal litrpg troupes but unique enough but the beasts are important but not integrated well to the story. The overlap of cultivation and RPG elements are part of that challenge as development isn't closely connected to fights but there are beast cores with unclear use but people and beast don't give any clear benefits growth is mostly by cultivation.

but overall a good read and time well spent.

Great litrpg

One of the best litrpg series I’ve read, can’t wait for the next one! Strong heroine over comes adversities and deadly plots

very slow storyline

the story and narrator being so slow required putting the speed to 1.3x just to make the listening experience bearable.
over explaining small erelevant details makes it hard to stay focused on the story line.
MC has no meaningful friendships or interaction with other characters which makes the story even harder to relate to. will not be getting the 2nd book.
