About this listen

Rebel of the Sands is packed with train robberies, festivals under the stars, powerful djinni magic and an electrifying love story.

Dustwalk is Amani's home. The desert sand is in her bones. But she wants to escape. More than a want. A need.

Then a foreigner with no name turns up to save her life, and with him the chance to run. But to where? The desert plains are full of danger. Sand and blood are swirling, and the sultan's enemies are on the rise.

Better without the romance

VERY YA. And painfully heterosexual. The reader is good and the story is fun but it would have been twice as good without all the focus on the lusty romance between the two mains, which regularly made me roll my eyes. Also I never want to hear "I was from/born/made of the desert" ever again. It signposted a major plotpoint way too soon.

Beautiful world building

So much world building that adds so much to the story. Absolutely one of the most enjoyable books I’ve ever listened too

Expected better

I liked the idea of this story, but I found I didnt like the flow of it. It seemed to drag in some parts and then would rush or jump through the next. I was also disappointed with the ending. It was quiet anticlimactic and didn't leave me feeling excited to pick up the next in the series.
