Publisher's Summary
We're all searching for answers to the biggest questions: How can we be good? Find calm? Properly grieve? Beat FOMO? Work out what truly matters? Well, the good news is that the wisest minds in history asked the exact same questions—and they found answers. The ancient philosophy of Stoicism shows us that we are already in possession of the very tools we need to excavate this much-needed wisdom for ourselves.
So into the past we go with Brigid Delaney, to a time not unlike our own: one full of pandemonium, war, plagues, pestilence, treachery, corruption, anxiety, overindulgence, and—even back then—the fear of a climate apocalypse. By living and learning the teachings of three ancient guides, Seneca, Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius, Brigid shows us how we can apply their lessons to our modern lives in a way that allows us to regain a sense of agency and tranquillity.
Awash with insight, humor and compassion and filled to the brim with ways you can wrest back control, here are all the reasons not to worry.

Very listenable
I've listened to a few stoicism audiobooks now. Unlike the others this story was told in a 21st century style, with 21st century language and 21st century examples and interpretation. Thank you for writing and then recording this tome.

No exaggeration: this is a life changer
I recommend listening to an excerpt every morning before you start the day and any time you need it. Tranquility for the win!

Thank you Brigid.
Love this book. I’d love to see it as a text taught in high school. We all need Reasons Not to Worry.

A great intro to Stoicism
As the review title suggests, this was a really great intro to the philosophy of Stoicism. I’ve been interested in the idea for a while and really enjoyed this as a start. Will need a re-listen to really soak more in!

Love your work Brigid
Great stuff, super useful. Liked how non didactic you were. The softness and vulnerability of revealing your realisations was relatable and humorous. My partner found it shallow. I simply didn’t listen to it in front of him because whilst I couldn’t control his perspective on it, I could control his interruption of my enjoyment in listening to the book. #juststoicthings

Thought provoking
A great introduction to stoicism. I heard the author on a podcast and that led me to her book. I’ve taken a lot from it and found great techniques to deal with stress, death and anxiety.

Interesting, applicable, confronting excellent
Day by day situations with friends and family and the knowledge of great thinkers from the past, still current and applicable to us humans.
We haven’t changed much, and this is a good guide to make the difference internally as a single human

A Woke Person’s Guide to Stoicism?
Well narrated and generally well written when the author stuck to the material however I found myself irritated when her politics crept into the text from time to time - not every reader is going to share her enthusiasm for social justice, climate action or a belief in the evils of capitalism. That aside a good read.
