Enjoyable Read/listen

Enjoyed the story, predictable in parts but didn't diminish the overall experience. Books 1 to 3 ending in cliffhangers ... just as well packaged as 4 books.
Tom Taylorson the narrator did a excellent job. I will be looking for more of his readings in the future.

Glad it was all at once

A half decent sci-fi horror story told in four instalments. Now I am a horror story reader who enjoys a decent horror book but I would have hated to have to read this series as four small stories. I was glad to have it in an omnibus format giving me all four stories in one. I’ve read a number of series like this and I’ve always found them frustrating because they never really reach their conclusion. At least this one did and left the door open for more to come. Decent characters and plot, this brought my score up from the 2 stars that, if in separate books, the story would have gotten from me. The four story omnibus receives 3 stars, a good listen.

The is a hell of a series!!

I wasn’t sure what to make of it at first. But quickly the series had me. A great story that is tight, faced paced with no fat to be found. Plenty of fun nods to modern pop culture to be had all the way through. Easily one of the more creative books I’ve listened to for a while.

Unexpectedly enjoyable

The premise sounded great and I thought I’d try it. I bought it before I noticed a review calling it military sci-fi. I’m not normally fan of military sci-fi at all so was a little disappointed before I even started.

The book was surprisingly good. It wasn’t the usual ‘hoo-raa’ military, more a bunch of cargo handlers and techies with little combat experience. They were all very human and realistic.

The aliens were a great but very horrifying concept. They were awful, but I couldn’t stop listening.

The narrator was ok. The book had lots of running and screaming and the occasional high pitched shouting voice was a bit irritating. But overall I think he did ok given the nature or the dialogue.

Overall it was as a good read and had ended up having no regrets buying it.
