Publisher's Summary

A world the gods forgot.

Of all the worlds and life they created, the gods favored their children the most. But with that favor came the fear that their Legacy would one day become too powerful and overthrow them. Devram was created. A realm hidden amongst the stars. The gods gave their Legacy the best of all the worlds, and then they left, a sworn agreement to never return and to never interfere.

A historical event.

Forced to a life of servitude, the Fae are required to provide for the Legacy in more ways than one. Every five years, the eligible Fae are gathered for the Selection and assigned to serve in one of the six Kingdoms. To be chosen as the personal Source for a Kingdom Heir is the greatest honor, and for the first time in a millennia, all six Kingdoms have heirs choosing a Source. But their selections could tip the power balance a little too far.

A chosen that was never meant to be.Tessalyn Asura was as forgotten as the realm. But when she finds herself the personal Source to the Heir of Endings, she winds up serving in the darkest Kingdom of them all. The secrets within the Arius Kingdom are meant to be learned and kept, but this was never the life she wanted. Fighting not only the fate thrust upon her, but the temptation to lose herself to desire, Tessa will do anything to escape her new destiny. Until she starts to realize maybe their world wasn’t as forgotten as they thought, and maybe she’s the reason why.

Rain of Shadows and Endings is book one in The Legacy Series and ends on a cliffhanger. This is new adult dark fantasy romance series and includes elements that may be triggering to some listeners.

The voice actress really made this book AMAZING!

Don’t get my wrong I loved the story, i did feel like it was a lot of setup / building that a fantasy story must go though to be fantastic, but the VAs especially the female made this an amazing listen!

Great story telling

It really pulls you into the world.

The only thing I didn't really like was that the couple fight way too much about nothing most of the time. Repeating themselves and I did get sick of Tessa a bit. Maybe that was the way she was voiced, always annoyed, pissed off or in a mood. Totally warranted given her situation but just a bit tedious.

Can't wait for the next one.

Intriguing

The world building and story itself really draws you in however given the length of the book, the female accent used for Tessa becomes rather exhausting to listen to as she constantly sounds petulant which is only further compounded by her tantrums and the constant bickering. I may opt to read the second book instead of listening.

Handmaid’s Tale

..,,,.but rubbish . At least in the Handmaids’ Tail the absolute misogynistic and controlling behaviour is acknowledged and of course it’s exquisitely written so I shouldn’t be comparing the two at all . I kept going with this for a little while thinking the main female character was going to fight back at some stage but I couldn’t stick with it. Not only did it continue with the absolute boring and repetitive dialogue without any action or story line but I had the unfortunate experience of listening to this in audible where chapters alternated with a male narrator who was just terrible . If you are going to have male and female narrators leave them at least narrate in their own gender the male doing the female voice was laughable . I’m shocked this book received as many good reviews as it did as there are no redeeming attributes in this story . Would not recommend this book and will never start anything by this author again .

Hard work

Narration was good, the story was hard work to finish and left me wishing there was more to it l. The last chapter was the most interesting.

Entitled spoiled annoying female character

All she did was whine and complain. Even in moments where she could have shown some strength in character…she whined and complained and became belligerent.

DNF

The female narrator is great, but could not salvage the story. I had to give up :-(
