About this listen

In this gripping New Zealand thriller, New York Times best-selling author Nalini Singh takes you into the twisted world of an exclusive cul-de-sac.

My mother vanished 10 years ago.

So did a quarter of a million dollars in cash.

Now, she's back.

Her bones clothed in scarlet silk.

When socialite Nina Rai disappeared without a trace, everyone wrote it off as another trophy wife tired of her wealthy husband. But now her bones have turned up in the shadowed green of the forest that surrounds her elite neighborhood, a haven of privilege and secrets that's housed the same influential families for decades.

The rich live here, along with those whose job it is to make their lives easier. And somebody knows what happened to Nina one rainy night 10 years ago. Her son Aarav heard a chilling scream that night, and he's determined to uncover the ugly truth that lives beneath the moneyed elegance...but no one is ready for the murderous secrets about to crawl out of the dark.

And the dead don't keep secrets.

Excellent book. So many twists and turns

So many twists and turns but did not get overloaded so that you got lost in extraneous details. Hurry up and write the next one please.

WOW

Nalini has outdone herself with this book. Her work is always compelling but this book takes her work into another sphere entirely. It's compelling, enrapturing and so vivid. The characters and story progression are amazing and the build up is steady and intense. It left me guessing who the culprit was going to be until the reveal and I still guessed wrong. I highly recommend this book.

Awesome story

Story full of twist and intrigue. While narration was ok, the mispronunciation of Māori words was cringeworthy

Another twister

Love the story, love the characters, not sold on the narrator. The narration was somewhat dry and colourless and emotionally lacking.

An Unexpected Find

Loved this book and Nalini’s other standalone novel A Madnesses of Sunshine.
I really enjoyed the contemporary New Zealand setting and the complicated twists and turns in the story. Although I have not read any of the titles from her usual genre it is obvious that she is a very experienced and creative author.
I hope there are more to come outside her usual genre of Psychic Romance.
