Publisher's Summary
Quicker is a near-future SciFi/Thriller whose young heroine, Ell Donsaii, is an intrepid athletic phenom who reminds one of David Weber's Honor Harrington. Like Stieg Larsson's Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Ell is also a mathematical genius who, instead of counting sheep, works on her own theory of quantum mechanics to help her drift off to sleep. At once shy and concerned about her social skills, yet well loved by those around her, she finds herself at the center of a terrorist plot at the Olympics. The terrorists never contemplated trying to hold a hostage with the unbelievable quickness and athleticism of Ell Donsaii! A tradition of young, strong, brilliant, female heroines like Honor, Lisbeth, and Katniss Everdeen is continued.

Dreadful narrator
My problem with this novel is that the heroine is too perfect, at everything!, and she likes the dooche who tried to rape her three years ago and has held a grudge against her. He keeps harping on the fact that she kicked his ass back then, rather than on his own actions to earn it. Whilst he is slowly maturing, I just hate that the author made this intelligent girl crush on her attacker, no matter his physique. She is lacking a personality and he is lacking a conscious.
The narrator is the biggest deterrent to purchasing this Audible book. She is/was obviously young, but it was painful to listen to. She gives Ell a sickening sweet, always earnest voice, with no attitude or humour to balance it. The other characters tend to sound stupid or stilted. Her pacing is steady, plodding and very boring.
I quit this book about an hour in. Try the written version instead
