About this listen

The next audiobook in the epic fantasy series by USA Today bestselling author Scarlett St. Clair.

Isolde, newly coronated queen, has finally found a king worthy of her in the vampire Adrian. But their love for each other has cost Isolde her father and her homeland. With two opposing goddesses playing mortals and vampires like chess pieces against one another, Isolde is uncertain who her allies are in the vampire stronghold of Revekka.

Now, as politics in the Red Palace grow more underhanded and a deadly blood mist threatens all of Cordova, Isolde must trust in the bond she's formed with Adrian, even as she learns troubling information about his complicated past.

Contains mature themes.

I don't think I liked this as much as the first book but still very much enjoyed it.
I do wish Adrian's smut vocabulary was less repetitive and more creative, but then again i guess he's brain isn't really working so gotta keep it simple.
What I didn't like about the audiobook was that you sometimes had character voices spoken by Lilly and then sometimes by Curt.
So say Lilly would voice Adrian's character from Isolde's pov and then Curt would do his voice during Adrian's pov. I found it jarring when the characters voice changed, and would much rather it was just one person voicing each character throughout the book.

I devoured the first book but this was a disappointment and nearly a DNF. I honestly cannot tell you what the plot was until the last 5 chapters of the book. The remainder was a thin plot in-between shut and Isolde being upset or angry at something. The male narrator was grating.

Plot? What plot???

Loved the continuation of the story. There was 1 chapter in the middle that the transition from one place to another was oddly abrupt and the end explanation was left a little too open ended and then just cut to a feel good final chapter of later on, felt like there was a chapter missing in these 2 places to round the story off. Other than that, I loved the story and the journey.

Great love story! Love all the action and thrills of the battles I think the voice of Isolde is great and she plays all the other characters well, but the voice of Adrian is conflicting to the way he was portrayed in the first book.

When Lilly Drake does Adrian she gives him this smooth and calculated persona, but Curt gives him this quirky jokester vibe which conflicts with my take of the story, and how I have interpreted it.

It may work for others. Still a good a read! First book really captures you in!

Loving the love story

It didn’t have any kind of ending. -no plot - was very disappointed as i loved the first book - it was all very bland - explicit sex scene for the sake of it - didn’t add to the story became very boring and repetitive
