About this listen
Al started his day with a cup of cheap gas-station coffee, expecting it to be another mundane day of classes. Instead, he ran for his life as eldritch monsters ripped into his university, bumped into strange characters, and went toe to toe with evil incarnate to save his classmates and crush, almost costing him everything.
Just as Al thought his story ended, he awoke in a strange place with strange people, broken and scarred. From there, he is presented a horrifying revelation and a seemingly impossible decision that could impact billions of lives. Al comes to question everything he's ever known, being faced with the presence of magic, the knowledge of a cosmic war, and coping with the harshness of reality. While in the company of a buxom mage and a battle-hardened warrioress, Al determines his place in the order of all things.
Contains mature themes.

Brilliant!
I loved this book, great world building and character development. Lots of Magic and beast kin, monsters and badass warrior women, pretty much everything to satisfy your epic fantasy needs. The MC goes through some hard times but his transition through it seemed very real. Lots of times in these situations it makes for a whiny MC but it’s handled really well and I didn’t feel that way at all with this book. The magic system is interesting and can’t wait to see where the next book goes with it.
The narration was very well done with different voices for each character, and a fairly good female imitation. One gripe I will bring up however, is that there’s obviously a couple of typos in the script as the narrator says a word, you know it’s wrong, know what it’s meant to read/say instead and it pulls you out of the moment a touch. This isn’t enough to detract from the overall awesomeness of the story though and I highly recommend giving it a try!!!
B.C. Handler, you’re on my must read radar now.
