About this listen
A standalone novel.
I'm NHL defenseman Lance Romero, AKA Lance "Romance".
I'm notorious for parties and excess. I have the most penalty minutes in the league. I get into the most fights. I take the most hits. I'm a player on and off the ice. I'm the one women with no inhibitions want.
Not because I like the notoriety, but because I don't know how to be any other way.
I have secrets. Ones I shared with the wrong person, and she used them against me. Sometimes she still does. I should cut ties. But she makes it difficult, because she's the kind of bad I deserve.
At least that's what I believed until someone from my past gets caught up in my present. She's all the good things in this world. She lights up my dark.
I shouldn't want her.
But I do.
I should leave her alone.
But I won't.

My chest got torn.
Gosh this book is soooo realistic abd so heartbreaking. Lance has been through the worst. not to mention the betrayal that came with Tasha learning about his past and using it against him.
From the moment Poppy mentioned knowing Lance when they were young had me rooting for her and boom, she was there when the team trainer called a favour for Lance. I was happy but this book had ne aprehensive all through not knowing when Tasha would strike. It's the closest I've come to understanding how intense it is being scared of your future daily due to trauma.
All through the series it build the potency of this book so well.

the best story line of the bunch!
When i originally wrote a review for this book, i had only listened to it once. I have since listened to it 5 plus times and it's become my all time favourite Pucked Book hands down.
I have listened to quiet a few other books that relate or contain the Pucked series characters, and read the Pucks and Penalties book with the inserts of Lance and Poppy in it, and it's given me a greater understanding of the complexness of Lance as a character, their relationship and how Poppy really does Effect him and how he changes on and off the ice because of her.
He is INTENSE and how Helena Hunting originally bought him to life through out the Pucked series and turns him into a complete book makes total sense now and it's made me appreciate his character, and hers, all the more. I love that we originally hear about Poppy in Buck's book.

Lance’s HEA!
I really enjoyed finding out more about Lance’s past. This wasn’t the most exciting or steamy of the series but it has a sweet twist to it. Lance is such a sweetheart when it comes to Poppy. Narrators did a great job at putting a little Scottish tinge on Lance’s accent.

Pretty good
Not the best in the series, but a good and lovely story. Glad Lance isn't as bad as perceived in the previous books.
Usually don't like this female narrator however she did a good job in this one and the male narrator was good too. Both usuing subtle acents without going overboard.
