Struggled to finish this

The author has concentrated on the grisly details to the point that it was difficult to keep listening. The thing I struggled most with was the narrator's "upbeat" reading style, completely wrong for the book's subject matter. It gave the impression (probably mistakenly) that the author was being flippant.
