About this listen
Lord Elliott Mayfield has done his best to take care of his family, first his siblings and now his nieces and nephews. Unfortunately, he sees this new generation moving in the same direction of bad matches and scandalous relationships as the last. In hopes to change their course, he establishes a "marriage campaign" to motivate them to improve themselves through making respectable matches. With his heart in the right place, what could possibly go wrong?
Peter, Elliott's eldest nephew, thinks the entire idea is ridiculous. A widower with two young daughters, he simply needs a governess, not a wife. Julia Hollingsworth certainly has the credentials and the experience, but is altogether too young and pretty for such a job. So why can't he stop thinking about her?
Julia loves working as a governess, despite the objections of her mother, Amelia. As it turns out, Amelia has a lot to say about the Mayfield men - none of it good. But Julia dismisses the rumors of ruined reputations and instead concentrates on helping Peter with his children and his fledgling business in canine husbandry. His kindness and gentleness is endearing - and increasingly attractive.
But Amelia, whose heart was broken 30 years ago by none other than Elliott Mayfield, is determined to prevent any relationship from blooming either between Peter and Julia - or between herself and Elliott.
Hearts and history collide as both couples must face their pasts and decide if risking it all is worth the promise of new love and a new future.

Sweet
I enjoyed this book on the whole but did not particularly like the mother Amelia. Her prejudice was initially believable considering the scandal of many in the extended family but it became petty when based on her own past, especially as she refused offers of explanation and had still had a happy marriageof her own. The relationship between Peter and Julia was really sweet, both their characters very likeable. Add to that the cuteness of the two daughters under Julia's care and litters of puppies... well, it was bound to create some "feel good" moments.

sweet as sugar
nice sweet modern story dressed up in period costumes. lack the authentic touch of a contemporary writer but very enjoyable... really nice to have no bodice ripping.
Justine Eyre has a fantastic narration style for this type of book, I really enjoyed the slight chuckle her voice has.

Lovely and easy
Escapism and romance beautifully narrated by Justine Eyre. It’s a sweet story and I enjoyed escaping into a polite society.

Clean Regency Romance
My 1st book by this author. The story's a bit slower than I'm used to, but still enjoyable if you adjust your expectations before beginning. Clean story with happy ending.
Narrator does a good job with the voices & depth for the male voices. No difficulty distinguishing characters.

Narration done really well. I listened to book 5 before I realised this is a series however the books can stand alone. This book sweet and relaxing to listen to like book 5 except book 5 is even better.

a great interesting romance in 4 person view
I found this interesting in 4 person view. well narrated by Justine Eyre
I didn't take to Amelia - she was interfering and meddlesome
but I liked the book overall
even cried at a sad moment ( I love dogs)
but at least it had a HEA
well worth the credit
