About this listen
No one said being a medium would be easy.
Rain Christiansen, former FBI agent and current cold case detective, is starting to think it's the hardest job he's ever had - and the most important. He's determined to accept all the changes in his formerly well-ordered life, but that means embracing a whole lot of weird. There's no instruction manual for meshing his work with his medium duties, and he's painfully aware that he's flubbing the job. So are the ghosts, who are becoming increasingly impatient. And stronger.
To complicate matters, he's not sure what these spooktacular developments mean for his relationship. It certainly seems like Daniel McKenna, his partner in work and life, is in it for the long haul. But Rain can't help but wonder how long that patience will last...and what he'll do if Danny decides the intrusive ghosts are just too much.
Rain thought accepting his supernatural gifts would be the solution to his troubles. But he's starting to realize his problems are just getting started.

Great mystery spicy read
Thoroughly enjoying this series! Love their relationship, the mystery element and the ghosts make for some fun drama so it’s not depressing.
Kirt Graves’ narration is excellent as usual!
Can’t wait to start the next book.

Fantastic and fun!
Rain is enjoying living with Danny but the ghosts that visit are not respecting any boundaries, in fact they’re getting kind of pushy! So, while tackling a number of murders and disappearances, Rain seeks help to learn some principles of Spookology with varying degrees of success. This was thoroughly enjoyable, slightly creepy, and loads of fun. SE Harmon has a knack of giving her irascible main characters a nice balance of snarky humour and big hearts. The multiple murder plot was engrossing and substantial with a few main suspects to keep us guessing. Can’t wait for book 3 in the series! 🎧 I actually liked the narrator of the first book a lot so I was surprised by the switch but I’ve always enjoyed Kirt Graves’ performances and he does a great job here.

Different narrator for book 2, great listen.
Rain and Danny are back for more cold case investigations in Principles of Spookology. Love the relationship between these 2 guys, they are back together and are slowly learning to open up more to each other. Rain is worried about the potential stress that could be placed on their relationship due to his ability, but he finally got his guy back and he is determined to keep him.
The ghost situation is a little out of control. What does one do when ghosts don't respect personal boundaries and just keep dropping in at all times of the day and night! Poor Rain, he is still trying to work out exactly what he is capable of, and the ghosts are surprising him at times throughout the storyline as well with their unexpected abilities.
Rain's family add humour to the storyline again - love his quirky eccentric parents. I enjoyed how the cold case mystery slowly unravelled across the story with the different ghosts that assisted Rain with the investigation.
Different narrator for the second book in the series, but I didn't mind, first and second book were both really good to listen to.
