About this listen

Gil Martins investigates domestic terrorism for the FBI. He is a religious man but he’s coming close to losing his faith due to the nature of his job.

Gil starts to investigate a series of unexplained deaths, and as the evidence mounts, it becomes apparent that they have been killed through prayer.

His newfound atheism is severely challenged, and he finds his own life is next on the line.

Bernie Günter in the FBI ?

This was the only Philip Kerr I had left to read having enjoyed the full array of Bernie Günter and the soccer novels and other one offs. While I liked Gil the FBI agent the plot developing into the supernatural stretched credibility based on my broader Philip Kerr reading experience and ranks this one low on the Kerr Totem pole. Still given there are sadly no more I enjoyed it for that at least and the fact the character had some of the irreverence of Bernie in part.
