About this listen

Foster:

"Look out for Zach, and don't hit on him." My brother's request sounds easy enough. Keep an eye out for his best friend on campus and keep my hands to myself. Easy. Even if Zach is a quintessential nerd, who I've always thought was cute, I don't have the time to think with my...stick. There's only one stick I should be focused on this year, and that's my hockey stick. My goal once I graduate is to get an NHL contract. The last thing I need is a distraction. On or off the ice. Only, keeping to the rules is harder than I thought it would be.

Zach:

People confuse me. And no one more than Foster Grant. I've barely spoken two words to him in the whole time I've known him, but the second I step foot on campus, he's impossible to shake. I can never anticipate his next move. And whenever we're together, my next move is a total mystery as well. I want to give in to him, but that might mean coming clean about something I've never been bothered about before. I'm still carrying my V-card. And I think it's time to turn it in.

Contains mature themes.

Enjoyable low angst story about a shy college nerd and his best friend’s hockey playing brother. When Fosters brother asks him to look out for his shy socially awkward friend while on campus he thinks it’ll be a chore but soon finds that Zach is quite funny and amusing with his blunt interpretation of so much of life around him.

The narrators made this a very enjoyable listen bringing the characters to life both of which were funny and insightful.

Hopelessly romantic

A really good book giving me the warm and fuzzy feeling. Love it and looking forward to the others in the series.

Loved the story

The narrator for Zach wasn’t my favourite but the story made up for it. Loved the banter between the characters and loved this book

Fun and sweet with great audio narration!

A socially awkward nerd, Zach has transferred to Colchester U. to start his early grad program. His best friend, Seth, asks his brother and popular captains of the ice hockey team, Foster, to keep an eye on Zach and help him settle in. Seth warns him to keep things platonic but Foster just can’t help himself. While neither Zach nor Foster are closeted, I liked the exploration of Foster’s bisexuality as harder to accept by those with a ‘choose a side’ mentality. This combined two of my favourite tropes: nerd vs. jock and best friend’s brother. There’s not a lot new here but the writing and dialogue are fun and the story is sweet. Two of my most favourite audio narrators, Alexander Cendese (as the cocky Foster) and Iggy Toma (as the shy Zach) give stellar performances - they really are perfect for the roles.

Sweet hockey romance 🫶🏼

Foster is a popular college hockey player with a promising future and has a twin brother who asks him to look after his best friend Zach as he is shy and sweet and also part of the “nerdy” part of college student. From here we all know what happens…🫶🏼

The story is sweet and was easy to read.

The narrators did a great job!

A sweet story

This was a sweet book. It covered a sensitive topic well and really set up the emotional growth of Foster and Zach.

I enjoyed Zach's nerdiness and Foster's willingness to put Zach's needs first.

I read on Kindle and read along on Audible.
