Publisher's Summary

Kay Scarpetta has been training at the Dover Port Mortuary, mastering the art of ‘virtual autopsy’ - a groundbreaking procedure that could soon revolutionise forensic science. And it is not too long before these new skills urgently need to be put into practice. A young man drops dead, apparently from a heart condition, eerily close to Scarpetta’s home. But when his body is examined the next morning, there are stunning indications that he may have been alive when he was zipped inside a pouch and locked inside the cooler.

When the revolutionary 3D radiology scans reveal more shocking details about internal injuries unlike any Scarpetta has ever seen, Scarpetta realizes that this is a case of murder - and that she is fighting a cunning and uniquely cruel enemy. Now it is a race against time to discover who and why before more people die. But that time is running out...

Not a fan of the dramatic music

Story line wasn't one of her best ones but it was entertaining enough for my commute.

On edge of my seat

Loved the story line. Not a fan of the narrator, hard to follow at times when switching between characters.

Port Mortuary

This is another great book by Patricia Cornwell. Though if it was narrated by Lorelei King it would have been 100% better. She really does a great job with the voices .

great story, as usual

very disappointed with the narrator, extremely difficult to tell the characters apart with little difference in voices and the music played at the end of most of the chapters was pointless and unnecessary.

Performance was terrible

I suspect the terrible music was added to give the full performance some character… it didn’t help. The Bolinda recordings of the Scarpetta series are much better.
Definitely not my favourite of the Scarpetta books but a decent way to kill a few hours.

Isn’t this Audible?!

Guh! Why music behind the narration? The story is good enough without needing music to jazz it up
