This reader should never do Australian accents. The writer should research better

I was offended and horrified by the way Australians were depicted in this novel. The accent was appalling and really offensive to Australians.

The writer didn’t do his research very well we do t have sheriffs as law enforcement people. We have police or cops. The thought of us having sheriffs makes us sound like we ar backward and ignorant.

Not my favorite

Usually love a Harlen Corben but this was long winded and predictable. Didn’t enjoy the readers dreadful Australian accent. Overall a disappointing purchase.

Play Dead Disappoints

Some great Coben twists; slow in coming. Narrator adds 'h' to every 's blend'. Irritating.

Disappointing!

I've listened to quite a few Harlen Coben books and this is my least favourite
the story line is poor and predictable and attention to detail when it came to the Australian part if the storyline wad lacking.
The narrator was okay apart from the Auatralian accent , which was absolutely terrible and embarrassing!

Play Dead, a great story.

Terrible Australian accent. I couldn’t tell whether it was closer to New Zealand or Cockney.

Good story

Story was good but not his best.
The narrator’s voice was really hard to listen to. At least once the context was missed and as an Australian, the narrators Aussie accent was awful, part Aussie, part Kiwi, part bad British, so extremely annoying.
I hate to give a bad review but when you’re paying to listen it needs to be easy to listen.

Great story

Although I loved this story line the reader was atrocious. Her range of character voices was to limited so you couldn’t tell which character was speaking and her Aussie accent was more British and cringe worthy making it incredibly difficult to listen to. So a love hate for this book

Great book spoilt by narration

as always from Corban a great story with twists and turns. unfortunately the narration was at best awful and at worst distracting, particularly the attempt at the Australian accent! What a shame a good book was spoilt in this way.

Absolutely Terrible Narration

The narration is horrible, The accents are appaling. The sentences make no sense a lot of the time - spoken in a very strange way, like the narrator hasn't read ahead to pick up the tone or sentence structure required. I pity Harlen Coben who is a fabulous writer and I love most of his books, this narrator has not done him a service here. The story did not draw me in like usual, due to having to decipher the audio the whole time. Did not bother finishing listening to this book. Will read the hardcopy at some stage.
