About this listen

Kennedy:

I’m the only woman on staff for the Windy City Warriors, and after years of putting up with a sexist lead doctor, I’m desperate to land my dream job with a new team next year. All I have to do is maintain my professional reputation for my final season in Chicago. But a Las Vegas run-in with the team’s shortstop threatens it all, leaving me with a fuzzy memory and a ring on my left hand. Now, not only am I legally bound to the most persistent man I’ve ever met, but thanks to Isaiah’s scheme to save my job, I have to pretend the whole thing was a planned elopement and not a drunken mistake. Isaiah Rhodes is reckless, impulsive, and frustratingly charming. He’s also my brand-new husband. They got the saying wrong. What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas…sometimes it follows you right back home.

Isaiah:

As the shortstop for Chicago’s professional baseball team, I’ve had my fair share of fun. But that all ended the day Kennedy Kay became a single woman. I’ve crushed on the team’s athletic trainer for years. I’ve flirted to no avail, so imagine my surprise when I woke up in Sin City with a ring on my finger and my favorite redhead in my bed. We agree to stay married for one baseball season, just long enough to keep her job safe, but in my mind, I’m using our time together to prove to her I’m husband material. Kennedy might be reluctant to join in on our game, but it’s one I refuse to lose. So come on, wife…play along.

Liz Tomforde can do no wrong!

I once again loved the 4th installment of the Windy City Series.

Kennedy and Isaiah were so amazing together, I loved the progression of their relationship and am desperately waiting for book 5! Rio's book!

Dual Narration

This book is dual narrated (man does man chapters, woman does woman’s). I found his narration of the female characters a bit annoying. But overall the narration was good.

The book was really cute. I just didn’t vibe with the characters as much as I have with the others in the series.

Uncle Zaya & Auntie Ken!!

My gosh this was so wonderful - performed EXACTLY how I imagine Kennedy would sound and even though it took me a little while to warm up to the performance of Isaiah, MY WORD did he bring him to life. Both voices are absolute perfection in the spicier scenes.

I adored this book when I read it, so much so I bought it in Audible just to experience it for the first time again.

You could’ve knocked me down with a feather when the cheeky little extra appeared in the epilogue…even more happy tears after that.

12/10 worth it. So far this is my book of the year for 2024

Fantastic narration, beautiful story

I really liked all the previous books in the series, but this has to be my favourite. Both the narrators were great at doing the other gender’s voice in a way that made it seem real, which is rare. And these two characters really tugged at my heartstrings. Love them and their unconventional love story so much

5* read - my favourite so far

I loved this story, probably my favourite of the series so far. Isaiah was caring, protective, funny, vulnerable, charming as hell and a little domineering in the bedroom (or bathroom) ;) Perfect!
Kennedy made him work for their relationship, which was a bit frustrating at times, because, well... who wouldn't want Isaiah? Loved the brother's relationship, the found family and friends. I'm eagerly awaiting the next in the series.
