Publisher's Summary
A long-lost masterpiece sparks deadly violence – and sets Detective Superintendent Roy Grace on the path of a caclulating killer. Discover the darkness that lurks around every corner in Picture You Dead by Peter James.
Now a major ITV drama starring John Simm as Roy Grace.
Harry and Freya, an ordinary couple, dreamed for years of finding something priceless buried amongst the tat in a car boot sale.
It was a dream they knew in their hearts would never come true – until the day it did . . .
They buy a drab portrait for twenty pounds for its beautiful frame, planning to cut the painting out. Then, studying it back at home, there seems to be another picture beneath, of a stunning landscape. Could it be a long-lost masterpiece from 1770? If genuine, it could be worth millions.
One collector is certain it is genuine. Someone who uses any method he can to get what he wants.
Detective Superintendent Roy Grace finds himself plunged into the unfamiliar and rarefied world of fine art. Outwardly it appears respectable, gentlemanly, above reproach. But beneath the veneer, he rapidly finds that greed, deception and violence walk hand-in-hand. And Harry and Freya are about to discover that their dream is turning into their worst nightmare . . .
Although the Roy Grace novels can be listened to in any order, Picture You Dead is the nineteenth title in the bestselling series. Enjoy more of the Brighton detective’s investigations with Find Them Dead and Left You Dead.

Enjoyable but a bit predictable as to the ending.
I have enjoyed all the Roy Grace books and the plot was a good idea but I found that the detectives seemed like bystanders and the story a bit weak with few twists.

Couldn’t stop listening
The person who read the story had a voice that was very easy to listen to - just the right tone and the regional accents were good. The story kept me interested from start to finish

Wish he’d get on with the background story
Have been enjoying the series but I feel the background story is being dragged out too long

Really enjoyed this book
I loved this book - more than the last 2. Surprised to see others didn’t. The story line was excellent. Characters came to life and I found myself hating some of them. Enjoyed the overall storyline. Looking forward to the next one and meeting the new edition, one gripe I have is the repetition of earlier events, while I accept this is necessary when the event occurred in a previous book, it can become annoying for those of us that have read them all, but when the event occurred in the current book, it’s just not necessary !!

Quite boring really
This series is a bit up and down. This was a weak story for me. The climax just never happened and the ending was just a bit rubbish. Quite a boring subject matter unless you care about 17th Century art. Some good moments but wouldn't recommend 😕

Ok, but not his best
This title passed the time and not bad, but plot not really believable and for me a bit too much time spent on Grace’s home life.

Not one of the best
This one didn't focus much on Roy Grace, and catching up with him is always an integral part of the story
