About this listen
The murder has been solved. But has justice been done? Harry Hole is back in Oslo. He's been away for some time, but his ghosts have a way of catching up with him. The case that brings him back is already closed. There is no room for doubt: The young junkie was shot dead by a fellow addict. The police don’t want him back....
Denied permission to reopen the investigation, Harry strikes out on his own. Beneath the city's eerie tranquillity, he discovers a trail of violence and mysterious disappearances seemingly unnoticed by the police. At every turn Harry is faced with a conspiracy of silence. The criminals don’t want him back....
Harry is not the only one who is interested in the case. From the moment he steps off the plane, someone is watching his every move and tracing his every call. Someone wants him silenced.

Full of surprises!
How much more can they put poor Harry through? Gripping, edge of seat stuff that keeps you off balance right to the end and pulls absolutely no punches. Nesbo has fine tuned his style in this instalment and Sean Barrett is superb as usual.

Jo Nesbo + Sean Barrett = Perfect
Another cracking Harry Hole book from Jo Nesbo. This is the first book where Harry is entirely "off the res", no office politics, his life is grittier and more chaotic than ever and there are many excellent twists in the tale. Sean Barrett's narration is so good, he obviously loves these books and he nails the Norwegian pronunciation of the Oslo streets (at least it sounds like he does to a non Norwegian speaker!)

Geez, every junkie should read this book…perhaps they are too preoccupied. A wild and dispiriting ride.

Excellent, Twists and Turns as expected
Great Voices, great story.
Jo Nesbo always manages to keep you thinking, often dangles enough carrots that you’ve got it. Then a twist hits and you’re guessing all over again.
