About this listen
Stop for a moment. Are you here right now?
Is your focus on the words in front of you? Or is it roaming elsewhere, to the past or future, to a worry, to your to-do list, or to your phone?
The good news: there's nothing wrong with you - your brain isn't broken. The human brain was built to be distractible.
The even better news: you can train your brain to pay attention more effectively.
Acclaimed neuroscientist Dr Amishi Jha has dedicated her life's work to understanding the science of attention at every level - from brain-imaging studies in the lab to field testing soldiers, firefighters and athletes. Her mission has been to scientifically determine how we can harness the full power of our attention to better meet all that life demands. In Peak Mind, Dr Jha expertly guides listeners through fascinating research, debunking common assumptions about focus and attention, and offers remarkably easy-to-adapt flexible 12-minute-a-day exercises to lift the mental fog, declutter the mind and strengthen focus so that you can experience more of your life.

Outstanding book
Loved this book. I've been playing with and reaping the benefits of mindfulness for a while now. It was great to learn how it actually works, the science behind why and works and learn something new about it.

Clear, concise and informative
I was able to get fully immersed in his book. Full of clear, concise information, backed by evidence and delivered with actionable steps. Interesting stories of lived experiences from a variety of people and some fascinating facts about the brain.
I’m sure anyone adapting the mindfulness practices detailed will gain benefits. Listeners will also be thinking more about the way their brain works and have a greater understanding about the science of our attention in our distracted world.
Quite different from other books on mindfulness due to its distinctly scientific approach (not intended for relaxation, these practices are designed to improve attention).

self awareness 360
I love this book, i started my self awareness journey 4 years ago. It lead me to Authors such as Brene Brown, Kristin Neff, Echkart Tolle. Peak Mind just captured all that I have learnt and packaged in a more science based manner, which makes more sense to my western university taught science brain.

Boring
Excessive interlude and few insights. I wasn't engaged by the writing or narration. Not for me

You have to cut out a lot of fat to get to the good stuff
The book does have some great insights and lessons to offer. So it is a real shame that she decided to pad it out with fluff. I found myself being frustrated at having to sift through tedious research procedures or through anecdotes that went on and on. 2.5/5
