While researching her end-of-year project on the local ecosystem, 20-something college student Poppy gets herself turned around. The snowy North Carolina woods are no place for a young girl, especially not when the sun is about to go down. Fortunately for her, Poppy runs across a beautiful log cabin. Although she finds the owner to be quite crotchety, he invites her in to the safety of his cabin for the night. Hesitant, Poppy goes inside.
Bear shifter Thomas moved out to the North Carolina woods to escape the interruption of nosy neighbors. When he finds Poppy on his doorstep one afternoon, however, he just can't leave her to the wolves.
