About this listen
Brash, cocky, and unbeatable with a sword (well, almost), Sam of Haywood is the most promising Paladin trainee in the kingdom of Thule. The only problem is that Sam is really Lady Samantha, daughter of the 17th duke of Haywood, and if her father has his way, she'll be marrying a Paladin, not becoming one.
But Sam has never held much interest in playing damsel in distress, and so she rescues herself from a lifetime of boredom and matrimonial drudgery. Disguised as a boy, Sam leaves home behind to fight demons - the most dangerous monsters in Thule - alongside the kingdom's elite warriors. Pity that Tristan Lyons, the Paladin assigned to train her, is none other than the hero of her childhood. He hasn't recognized her, but if he does, he'll take away her sword and send her packing. As demons wreak havoc across the land, rebellion stirs in the West, led by a rival faction of warriors. A war between men is coming, and Sam must pick a side. Will saving the kingdom cost her life - or just her heart?

Exciting!
Absolutely love this book and recommended to my friends. I love how the story line is unpredictable and the characters have their own personality and special traits. Love how people’s voices are read with their own accents and had their personal mannerisms incorporated in the lines. Well written. Hope the author will publish more.

Go chase your dreams girl
Stubborn and confident protagonist Lady Samantha of Heywood runs away from her home to join the army. Very similar to Mulan. Great narrating. Next read for interested readers would be the Medoran Chronicles, narrated by the same person.

Enjoyable read, disappointing finish.
Didn't know what to expect of this story. I had no knowledge of the story or Author previously and picked it in a whim.
I was pleasantly surprised it dragged me in very quickly and found it difficult to "put it down".
however I was ultimately disappointed as towards the end it moved to the female teenage love trash I'd expect of in twighlight.
So it left me not wanting to read any more of the series, which is a pity as the majority it is an epic fantasy with some great plotlines.
ah well the author has to sell books I suppose.
yes go ahead it's a good read.

A mediocre story
A poor story, and a really, very terrible narration. I’m not sure why Americans writer books set in “medieval times” and then have it voiced by an American actor who doesn’t understand the narrative; or worse… tries putting on faux English accents!

I did like the Braydon character
The narrator did not help regarding the enjoyment of the book. It is easy to listened to but the story was not for me.
