وقد انتهى الجزء الأول من الرواية باستشهاد فهمي ابن السيد أحمد عبد الجواد خلال المظاهرات المطالبة بجلاء الاحتلال الانجليزي عن الأراضي المصرية لذلك تبدأ رواية قصر الشوق بتناول حياة السيد أحمد عبد الجواد وعائلته بعد مرور خمسة سنوات على وفاة ابنه فهمي ، وقد تغيرت الحياة كثيراً ، فقد انتقلت بنات السيد أحمد للعيش في حي قصر الشوق بمنطقة الجمالية بعد زواجهن وأصبح السيد أحمد رجلًا زاهدًا لمتع الدنيا...كما ستظهر في هذا الجزء شخصيات جديدة تقلب الأحداث رأسًا على عقب.
