Great story, characters and intrigue
Review
Love the ending, and all three of the books. I had little to no ‘oh come on‘ moments of frustration at unbelievable relationships or developments over time (things happening too quickly to be realistic). I appreciated the balance between strength, vulnerability and fear in the characters. I tend to prefer depictions of stronger female characters who find equality with their males/mates as opposed to the needy angsty female with overprotective males/mates. The personality of every character was well developed, giving each enough to connect with their quirks, secrets and attributes, and appreciate their contribution to the story. The layers of the story and ties between characters were woven together in such a way as to keep the intrigue flowing throughout all the books. I find the differences in authorial choice of how much sex, how descriptive the sex scenes are between characters in RH books, interesting and whilst there wasn’t much description, the depth and layering of the story combined with believability of the dynamics between the 4 made it just right overall. The female narration was excellent. There were moments of mild, eye roll level frustration at the male narrator for inconsistencies of voices across the books, and suboptimal distinctions between male characters, but overall it didn’t really detract from the listening experience. I’ve just moved house and hungrily listened to all three books all day (and night), everyday for the 3-4 days I spent unpacking and sorting.
