About this listen
When an experimental starship test goes horribly wrong, a test pilot from Earth is flung across the galaxy and crash lands on the planet of a powerful alien king.
Pilot Mallory West is having a really bad day. She’s crashed on an alien planet, her ship is in pieces, and her best friend Poppy, the scientist monitoring the experiment, is missing. Dazed and injured, she collapses into the arms of a big, silver-eyed warrior king. But when her rescuer cuffs her to a bed and accuses her of being a spy, Mal knows she has to escape her darkly tempting captor and find her friend.
Overlord Rhain Zhalto Sarkany is in a battle to protect his planet Zhalto and his people from his evil, power-hungry father. He’ll use every one of his deadly Zhalton abilities to win the fight against his father’s lethal warlord and army of vicious creatures. Rhain suspects the tough, intriguing woman he pulls from a starship wreck is a trap, but when Mal escapes, he is compelled to track her down.
Fighting their overwhelming attraction, Mal and Rhain join forces to hunt down the warlord and find Poppy. But as Mal’s body reacts to Zhalto’s environment, it awakens dormant powers, and Rhain is the only one who can help her. As the warlord launches a brutal attack, it will take all of Mal and Rhain’s combined powers to save their friends, the planet, and themselves.

Brilliant
The first Galactic Kings focuses on Pilot Mallory West and Overlord Rhain Zhalto Sarkany who meet when Mallory crashes her experimental starship on his planet. It’s a very rocky start to their relationship Mallory is quite badly hurt from the crash and fights off an alien beast as well, then along comes Rhain who doesn’t trust her believing she is a spy. Once Rhain realises what Mallory really is he pulls out all he’s cunning to try and keep her with enemies all around and a burning desire firing between them it’s going be a bumpy ride.

so excited
I absolutely loved the galactic gladiator series so this book and the start of a series that is along the same lines pleases me no end.
it's so Anna Hackett, her fast paced, angst along with romance and a nice bit of steam thrown in is just what a sci fi space opera is all about.
if your looking for something with alpha men, strong heroines and lots of fighting weird creatures and baddies then this is it. it's a simple plotline but Anna's writing makes it so effective.
it was also wonderful to hear of the Cathargo women, i do a little happy dance when old characters are brought up.
to top it off she has Vivienne Leheny narrating which is absolutely perfect. she did a great job solo with the galactic gladiator series and here she's joined by Stephen whom I have listened to before and he is great. looking forward to Emperor and the rest of the series.

Really enjoyable
I would have preferred much less sex and I did skip through some of them but overall, this is a different and really enjoyable story. It has tons of really likeable characters, loads of action, development of emerging powers for our main female character and a nice romance without bullying or demeaning acts by the male love interest. In this instance the lead male is a kind loving and supportive man, I want to see more of this.
Along with the great story we have a fantastic female narrator who fleshes out and brings life to all the characters. The male narrator does a great job, I'm just not overly keen on his female voices, they are fine but personally I prefer one female narrator does all the voices, I don't know, the male narrator does create a rugged lead male, its just, I think of he only did the male voices and the female narrator did the female voices regardless of the point of view, then, in this case, I would have been happiest.
Having said all that, I really enjoyed the story and will be continuing the series and hope its just as good, hopefully with less sex, unless between two lead warrior women... Please..
