Editorial reviews

Vonda N. McIntyre is a science fiction author best known for her Starfarers Series and her Star Trek novels. Two of the three stories ("Screwtop" and "The Genius Freaks") in Outcasts were first published in Fireflood and Other Stories (1979). The third story in this collection is "Steelcollar Worker", an uncollected work published in 1992. All three stories feature iconoclastic female heroines who dabble in virtual reality, hovercrafts, and unearthly love.

Actress Dina Pearlman has extensive experience performing sci-fi titles. She brings sincerity and conceivability to otherworldly scenarios while her mature voice turns gritty with angry characters, and cool with emotional (and literal) aliens.
