Publisher's Summary
Do you need my help?
It was always the first question he asked.
They called him when they had nowhere else to turn.
Raised and trained as part of a top-secret programme, he was sent to the worst places in the world to do things his government denied any knowledge of.
Then he broke with the programme and disappeared. But now someone's on his tail. Someone who knows he was once known simply as Orphan X.

Great story. Not so great narration.
The story is great. I really struggled with the narrator though. He seemed to dramafy everything. Long pauses and just too much ergency and mrnace in his voice. It let the book down.

Really liked it
It’s something different and kept me engaged. Liked the twists and turns. Not far fetched or unbelievable. Would like to read a follow up.

Exciting story, well performed. A new action hero. I intend to continue listening to the series.

Wow! Even better the 2nd time!
Even better the 2nd time! I first read (listened via Audible) to this book in 2000 and thought it was so impressive I went on to devour all 8 books in the series. I thought I'd read it again after rediscovering it in my library. Wow, what a read (listen), probably more impressed than the first time! Scott Brick is also a fabulous narrater who brings the story to life.
Definitely worth a read (listen).

Utterly Astounding
Fantastic reader, nails all the beats and voices.
The story itself is fantastic, taking a very real approach to espionage and human behaviour
