Publisher's Summary

It's not easy being the only human at the Community of Species Government - and especially not when you're the rescue case. Two years ago, I was planning to go to college, have a wild time, then settle into a normal life. Instead, I was kidnapped, spent months being a test subject, was in hiding for nearly a year, and then found out that my whole existence is a science experiment conducted by the bad guys. It's definitely time to reassess.

My rescuers at CSG have been awesome...mostly. They gave me a job, a home, and a support network. But the whole demons, vampires, shifters thing is not easy to get used to. Especially when one particular vampire makes me want to take up stake sharpening for a hobby.

The thing is, teenage mentality or not, Andrew is a fierce protector. With the bad guys still on the loose, I need someone like that on my side. Plus, did I mention that he's not hard to look at?

As we race to find my former captor before he can find me, life takes another twist and upends my world all over again. This time, though, I'm ready - after all, I've got an 800-year-old vampire at my back. What could possibly go wrong?

Excellent book

I totally recommend this book and series. It's funny as F. The main character is snarky and hysterical. Joel Leslie does an excellent job narrating as per usual. I really enjoyed this book and recommend this book. There are more in the series and recommend that you buy all the series. You won't be disappointed.

Full of sass

The dialogue full of sass is a total highlight in this book. The storyline continues and it is intriguing and highly engaging. The characters are very well defined and make up a fantastic cast that are never dull. Joel Leslie's narration adds another layer of enjoyment and I found myself unable to press pause and it was over far too soon!

“Audible hopes you’ve enjoyed this program”

F*ck I love this book, laughed big belly laughs !!
Joel is my chicken soup/crazy town/give me all I need in a narrator!!! Louisa’s comedy, deep thoughts and sex scenes gives me TJ Klune feels at times and that a massive compliment!!
This multi dimensional/multi paranormal/multi brilliant writing is utter perfection!!

The story continues

This book focused on Noah & Andrew.
Noah finds out he’s got some magic powers that the others try help him manage with varying success and scorch marks.
Full of fun and the usual high level of sarcasm all the characters are good fun.
I felt this book like the first ended very quickly more like a tv episode than a book.

Patchy and not as fun as the first book

In Demons Do It Better, Noah was rescued from a malevolent warlock / mad scientist. Here he settles into life at the Community of Species Government offices where he falls for ancient vampire, Andrew. DDIB was hilariously good, this book not so much. There’s lot of explaining and world building but not a lot happens for the first half of the book and Noah seemed pretty similar to Sam in DDIB. I didn’t really ‘feel’ the romance between Noah and Andrew, it’s overshadowed by the world building and they went from enemies to lovers very suddenly. There’s some nice action in the second half of the book and I liked Noah’s magical progress, but the story ends abruptly, it’s almost a cliffhanger. Audio narrator, Joel Leslie sparkles, switching accents on a dime. He seems to have chosen different accents for different species, with French (?) accents for the vampires.
