About this listen

How far would you go for happily ever after?

From the number one Sunday Times best-selling author of the Caraval series, the first book in a new series about love, curses and the lengths that people will go to for happily ever after.

For as long as she can remember, Evangeline Fox has believed in happily-ever-after. Until she learns that the love of her life is about to marry another and her dreams are shattered.

Desperate to stop the wedding and heal her wounded heart, Evangeline strikes a deal with the charismatic, but wicked, Prince of Hearts. In exchange for his help, he asks for three kisses, to be given at the time and place of his choosing.

But after Evangeline's first promised kiss, she learns that bargaining with an immortal is a dangerous game - and that the Prince of Hearts wants far more from her than she pledged. He has plans for Evangeline, plans that will either end in the greatest happily ever after, or the most exquisite tragedy....

Predictable yet enchanting

While the storyline and characters are predictable, certain twists and the ending really leave you wanting more.

With the hype I expected more

This was an easy read, nice story, engaging enough. But it’s alot of tell writing rather than showing, the main character is constantly telling you what’s happening and her changing thought every paragraph which makes it hard to stay immersed in any action going on. The ending intrigues enough to read the sequel but definitely expected more.

Enjoyable

I wasn't expecting much going into this, but I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the story, and the characters choices made sense, considering her age. Loved the narrator too.

Good all rounder

I’m not into the fantasy genre but I enjoyed this. The fantasy stuff was written well so I didn’t lose track or get confused. Great story line and intriguing. Lots of twists and turns.

Well Narrated

fans of the Mortal Instruments series will probably enjoy this :)

A little too much brooding romance in this for me, but it was well read. The world building is left to a minimum, I want to know more about this world.

Delightfully fun

This story is an absolute delight. It’s full of interesting main characters and quirky, loveable side characters. It was well narrated and I can’t wait to see what happens next in the series

Boring

Great for 10 year olds… anyone older shouldn’t bother. Narrator did a good job with what she had to work with
